As you are aware, I am currently in an obsession with higher end makeup. Despite this high end makeup shopping spree I have been engaging in; which is no spree to some beauty enthusiasts nor high end, the products in which i have been purchasing to me are high end.
Recently I took a winter break holiday to Arrecife, Costa Teguise in Lanzarote and in duty free and on the plane I bought some products, which one of them I will be reviewing today.
On the plane I purchased ‘Do The Hoola’ by Benefit, which is a travel sized boxed with travel sized goods inside. I have never tried Benefit before; apart from the odd try of a friends Hoola bronzer however have never owned my own products before. Therefore I thought it was the perfect chance.
To be perfectly honest with you my first impressions when opening the box wasn’t the most delightful impressions, and for a few minutes I thought to myself in regret of this purchase due to the sizing of the products. Now don’t get me wrong I wasn’t expecting to have full sized products in a travel box however was expecting a little more than a tiny pan of Hoola bronzer.
Fast forwarding to trying these products on my holiday I was still not ‘wooed’ you could say with these products. However the Benebalm did moisturise my lips whilst giving a tint to them and They’re Real mascara which now appears as just ‘They’re’ after the ‘Real’ disappearing did leave my short stubby lashes looking much longer however not the reaching the same satisfaction of having long eyelashes through my much loved false eyelashes from Eyelure.
Fast forwarding even more to being at home back in the cold weather I have become more fond of my purchase. Recently I have been contouring with the Hoola bronzer which has given me some days where I have been loving my makeup due to this bronzer. Unfortunately I have hit pan already however it is a must to buy again and definitely my favourite product by Benefit that I have tried so far with the They’re Real mascara following up in second place. However I am not convinced in purchasing They’re Real again just due to drug store alternatives I find create and give a similar effect.
As for the Dew The Hoola; great use of a pun by Benefit, I am yet to be won over by this product. Despite using the ‘Tips and Tricks’ little booklet supplied within the box I have still not been able to achieve the desired look and effect of the liquid form of the Hoola bronzer. Justifying my opinion, however this could just be because of my application of the product and maybe with a beautyblender it may actually work on me. Time will tell for Dew The Hoola.
Lastly, the Hoola lipgloss I have found pretty basic in my honest opinion. It’s supposed to be ultra plush however I find it does nothing more than act as a gloss which you could buy for much cheaper. Saying this I am a lover of Lipsticks which I could probably find a cheaper alternative to however this lipgloss doesn’t sell itself for me and meanwhile I do enjoy using this on top of my much loved Faux and Velvet Teddy lipsticks by MAC, I do not see myself repurchasing this or the Benebalm in the future.
Meanwhile my first Benefit experience hasn’t been as expectation reaching as I expected I have found my love for two new products in the making and for the cost of around £24 I can’t complain. Despite the slight let down I will continue to use the products within this box and will be looking into trying more Benefit products in the future; just not in a rush anytime soon.
