The idea of being perfect is something I see daily. It’s everywhere; social networking sites and in real life. So what is ‘perfect’?
According to Google:
“having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.”
But what is actually perfect? Perfection doesn’t exist. It really doesn’t. You can look at a celebrity and call them perfect, and in your eyes they may seem perfect but the truth is, they aren’t going to be perfect. As my mum told me, everyone has their faults and sometimes you just have to accept them and get on with it. Perfection has turned into an over used word that is over used so much it starts to effect us. Everyone has their faults and everyone sees themselves differently because it’s from your own perspective. No one see’s themselves as perfect. However to someone else you may seem perfect to them.
I’m not perfect. Sometimes i’m not the perfect friend, I say things I don’t mean and fall out with my friends. I’m not a perfect daughter. I don’t help my mum or dad out anywhere near how much I could and I know that. I know I could do more to help out and it’s just accepting the fact that i’m not perfect. My appearance isn’t perfect, i’m not the size I want to be, I have spots on my face and my skin isn’t clear, I don’t have the best fashion or the best hair. The truth is I’m not perfect and no one is.
I know people who believe they are never good enough, feel constantly down and have problems they wish they didn’t have. I don’t see any of their appearance flaws, that they see. They call themselves ugly and I think they are pretty. This is me as well. I look in the mirror and there is a lot of days I wish I could be someone else. I wish I had a toned stomach and legs. I wish I had naturally perfect hair and looked the same way as I do when I wear makeup naturally.
No matter what size, colour, race, height, shape you are, we are all the same. Some people aren’t the nicest people, no one has a perfect personality or characteristics. We can strive to be perfect however this idea of perfect is impossible to reach, and we can strive to be it but we will never fulfill this idea of perfection.
Strive to be the best you can be instead of striving to be perfect.
